US Strikes Two Iranian Tankers Under New “Tanker for Tanker” Policy

According to Sina Finance, U.S. officials said the U.S. military struck two Iranian government-owned tankers in a round of attacks on Tuesday. It was the first U.S. strike against Iranian tankers, carried out in retaliation for Iran's attacks on merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz rather than to stop tankers from violating a maritime blockade. A U.S. official said the action was part of a new “tanker for tanker” policy approved by U.S. President Donald Trump, aimed at further deterring Iran and stopping its attacks on tankers passing through the strait.
