Federal Reserve's Waller Discusses Tariffs And Interest Rate Outlook

According to Odaily, Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller stated that not all tariffs are passed on to consumers. He emphasized that the current monetary policy remains restrictive. Waller mentioned that the Federal Reserve could lower interest rates for both positive and negative reasons and still believes in a favorable outlook for rate cuts. Waller expressed that there is no immediate need for a rate cut in March, but the Federal Reserve might consider reducing rates after March. He noted that the median expectation of two rate cuts in 2025 remains reasonable.
