Ethereum Developers Discuss Key Updates in Latest Consensus Meeting

According to BlockBeats, on December 16, Christine Kim, Vice President of Research at Galaxy, provided a summary of the 147th Ethereum Core Developers Consensus (ACDC) call. During this week's meeting, developers continued to finalize the specifications for the upcoming Pectra Devnet 5. The Mekong network, which operates based on the Pectra Devnet 4 specifications, is currently stable, with no new reports on its health status. In the meeting, Ethereum Foundation engineer Barnabas Busa proposed removing the ability for validators to change the block gas limit. Additionally, developers agreed to remove EIP 7742 from Pectra, which involves decoupling the blob count between the Consensus Layer (CL) and Execution Layer (EL). Instead, they plan to double the blob count in Pectra by altering the client's genesis configuration. These discussions and decisions are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the Ethereum network's functionality and stability.
