U.S. Lawmaker Advocates for Cryptocurrency Regulation Framework

According to PANews, U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga, chair of the House Financial Services Oversight Subcommittee, declared cryptocurrency as the "future" during the "American Innovation and Digital Asset Future" hearing on June 4. The Michigan Republican emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive regulatory framework and revealed that the 2025 CLARITY Act, which he helped draft, will provide the legal foundation for this initiative. Huizenga's remarks coincide with his announcement to run for the Michigan Senate seat in 2026, where he will face competition from former Representative Mike Rogers, who also supports cryptocurrency. The hearing featured industry representatives, including former SEC Commissioner Elad Roisman and Uniswap's Chief Legal Officer Katherine Minarik, focusing on the development of a regulatory framework for digital assets.
