Chinese Star Xin Liu Showcases Singapore’s Soul in New Passion Music Video
Chinese singer-dancer Xin Liu has unveiled the official music video for her latest single Passion — filmed entirely in Singapore — joining a growing list of international artistes collaborating with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to spotlight the city’s cultural and creative landscape.
The 28-year-old performer, known for her distinctive blend of futuristic pop and bold choreography, worked with global music label 88rising and STB to craft a visual experience that fuses dance, architecture, and emotion.
The video, released on Friday (Nov 7), marks Liu’s first major collaboration with a tourism body and highlights Singapore’s emergence as a trusted global production hub for artists seeking both privacy and cinematic vibrancy.
A Journey Through Singapore’s Passion
Directed by Japanese-Chinese filmmaker Yuann, the Passion music video unfolds across four iconic Singaporean locations — the Asian Civilisations Museum, Jurong Lake Gardens, Clarke Quay, and Haji Lane — each symbolizing a different dimension of passion.
The museum’s neoclassical design sets the stage for introspection, while the colorful alleys of Haji Lane and the electric nightlife of Clarke Quay capture spontaneity and creative freedom. Jurong Lake Gardens, meanwhile, offers a lush, natural backdrop for unfiltered emotion. Together, these visuals portray Singapore as a city that transforms from day to night — alive with rhythm, energy, and artistic expression.
Yuann, visiting Singapore for the first time, said the city’s blend of heritage and modernity inspired his creative direction. Liu performs alongside five Singaporean dancers, choreographed by Jam Republic, a renowned dance collective based in Singapore known for its conceptual stage performances and viral choreography.
“This collaboration builds upon STB’s approach to branded entertainment and supports our latest campaign aimed at Gen Z and millennial travellers seeking meaningful, experience-led journeys,” the board said in a joint statement with 88rising.
Liu’s partnership with STB follows a series of high-profile collaborations in 2025 featuring Blackpink’s Jisoo, BTS’ Jin, and Coldplay, reinforcing Singapore’s status as a magnet for global pop culture production.
Finding Creative Inspiration in Singapore
Originally from China’s Guizhou province, Liu rose to fame after winning iQiyi’s hit reality show Youth With You 2, becoming the leader of the now-disbanded girl group THE9. She has since launched a successful solo career, known for her theatrical world tours and avant-garde artistic concepts.
Liu revealed that filming in Singapore re-energized her creative direction ahead of her ongoing Xanadu 2.0 world tour, which has already toured Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
“In Singapore’s unique tapestry of culture, nature, and urban vibrancy, I’ve discovered my creative journey — one where timeless heritage embraces modernity. To me, Singapore is a canvas of artistic possibilities. It’s a place where the surrounding beauty invites you to reflect on your inner self.”
With Passion, Xin Liu doesn’t just showcase Singapore’s landmarks — she transforms them into a living stage of self-expression, echoing the city’s growing role as Asia’s new creative playground.
