Cloudflare Discusses AI Payment Needs and Launches Agent Trust Framework

Cloudflare's Chief Strategy Officer Stephanie Cohen spoke at the Consensus 2026 conference in Miami, highlighting the scale of AI payment needs. According to Foresight News, Cohen revealed that the Cloudflare network generates approximately 1 billion HTTP 402 responses daily, indicating requests for payment from AI bots to access websites. This underscores the demand for native payment solutions for AI agents. Cloudflare has partnered with Visa and Experian to introduce the 'Agent Trust' framework. This system links AI agent behavior to verified real users through a binding mechanism, issuing trust tokens in real-time for merchants to verify the legitimacy of agent transactions. Cohen also noted that over 50% of internet traffic is now non-human, with AI companies extracting and returning data at a ratio of tens of thousands to one. She suggested that establishing a content payment model could usher in a 'golden age of content.'
