According to Foresight News, the Chinese Embassy in France has issued a warning regarding a recent surge in telecom fraud coinciding with the start of the school season. The embassy highlighted that fraudsters are employing tactics such as posing as 'mentors' or 'experts' to lure victims into scams involving investments, financial management, lotteries, and cryptocurrencies.
These fraudulent activities are often orchestrated by individuals located in foreign countries or distant regions, making the recovery of funds particularly challenging once the scam is successful. The embassy has urged Chinese citizens in France, especially students, to familiarize themselves with common telecom fraud methods.
To protect themselves, individuals are advised not to click on unknown links or download unfamiliar apps. Additionally, safeguarding personal information and using legitimate channels for currency exchange are emphasized as crucial preventive measures.
