Iranian Hardliners Rally in Support of New Supreme Leader Amid Opposition Chants

Iranian hardliners gathered on Monday in Tehran's Revolution Square, as well as in the religious city of Qom and Mashhad, the birthplace of the newly appointed Supreme Leader, Mojtaba. According to Ming Pao, these rallies were held to express loyalty to the new leader. However, the BBC confirmed that videos circulating on social media from Sunday night showed not only chants of support, such as 'God is great,' but also opposition slogans like 'Death to Mojtaba.' Many Iranians expressed to the BBC their belief that the leadership change would not result in any significant transformation.
