Elliptic Identifies North Korean Traits in Drift Protocol Attack

Blockchain analysis firm Elliptic has identified characteristics of North Korean state-sponsored hackers in the $285 million attack on Drift Protocol. According to Foresight News, the incident involved premeditated, meticulously planned on-chain activities and organized cross-chain laundering processes, resembling previous cryptocurrency thefts linked to North Korea. If confirmed, this would mark the 18th North Korean-related criminal activity tracked by Elliptic this year. So far, security incidents associated with North Korean hackers have amounted to over $300 million. In recent years, individuals linked to North Korea have stolen more than $6.5 billion in crypto assets.
