A working group led by the Ethereum Foundation has released a new open standard called Clear Signing, aimed at resolving the longstanding issue of 'blind signing.' According to Odaily, the new standard is built on the ERC-7730 specification and seeks to implement the 'What You See Is What You Sign' (WYSIWYS) concept. This initiative allows users to understand the actual execution content of transactions in a unified, readable, and structured manner before signing, replacing the current machine-readable but difficult-to-understand low-level transaction information display.
The Clear Signing standard enhances interpretability through off-chain standardized descriptions, thereby improving security without altering the on-chain transaction structure or affecting existing protocol compatibility. It employs a unified description format, registry system, and independent verification and auditing mechanisms to clearly express transaction intent and standardize its presentation on wallet interfaces.
