According to Foresight News, CoinDesk reports that the Ethereum Pectra upgrade has been launched on the new Hoodi test network. This development follows previous unsuccessful tests on the Holesky and Sepolia networks, prompting close attention to the current upgrade. The testing involves implementing a series of code changes aimed at enhancing Ethereum's user and developer experience. One notable change includes adding smart contract functionality to wallets, enabling developers to create new features such as paying transaction fees with cryptocurrencies other than Ether (ETH).
Ethereum developers have agreed that if the upgrade proceeds smoothly on Wednesday, Pectra will undergo approximately 30 days of monitoring before being activated on the Ethereum mainnet.
