A recent survey by Bitcoin mining company GoMining indicates that over 55% of cryptocurrency holders rarely or never spend Bitcoin. According to ChainCatcher, nearly 80% of respondents support broader adoption and believe in Bitcoin as a payment method.
The survey participants identified limited merchant acceptance, high fees, and privacy and security concerns as the main barriers to Bitcoin payments. GoMining CEO Mark Zalan noted that users desire a seamless experience when spending cryptocurrency and wish to receive rewards for their expenditures.
Despite these challenges, data from Artemis shows that monthly transactions via crypto cards have surged from $100 million at the beginning of 2023 to $1.5 billion by the end of 2025, indicating improvements in payment infrastructure.
